Alexander D. Crecca, Esq.

Alex Crecca grew up in El Paso, Texas where he learned to speak Spanish . He has deep family roots in New Mexico, with family spread from Las Cruces to Albuquerque to Ship Rock. Alex represents people in personal injury and business litigation.

Alex attended The Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, in Chicago, Illinois where he received numerous Dean's List Awards and the highest grade in the legal course, Trial of a Medical Malpractice Case. While in law school, Alex's article "Service of Process Abroad - Does Illinois Need A New Statutory Provision?" was published in The Forum, Loyola University Chicago International Legal Journal. Before his second year of law school, Alex externed for the Honorable Judge, Stephanie Seymour, of the United States Court of Appeals for the 10 th Circuit. The 10 th Circuit Court of Appeals presides over New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming. During his final year of law school, Alex was allowed to practice law under Illinois Rule 711. As a “711” lawyer, Alex handled consumer protection matters and family law on behalf of indigent people living in the Chicago area.

 

After graduation, Alex went to work for the Albuquerque law firm of Butt, Thornton & Baehr. While at Butt, Thornton & Baehr, Alex litigated and managed a variety of lawsuits and business matters. He has extensive experience with trucking litigation, having represented some of the largest trucking companies in North America. While at Butt, Thornton & Baehr, Alex was the lead associate on a multi-vehicle and semi-truck interstate accident stemming from a fire caused by a major railroad which lead to the death of seven people. He also represented numerous manufacturers and distributors of products, ranging from ATV's to asbestos and medical products. Alex has also defended and prosecuted construction defects and accidents, railroad negligence, malpractice, automobile, aviation and hot-air balloon claims, and professional and stock broker negligence claims.

 

Many of the claims against these companies and people arose out of catastrophic personal injuries and wrongful deaths. Alex knows how companies investigate and defend claims. Not only has Alex litigated and managed catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims, he has defended professionals against claims before New Mexico Administrative Boards. These professionals have had their licenses and, thus, their ability to practice their chosen profession at stake. He is currently preparing to instruct a continuing education course on legal issues affecting real estate appraisers.

 

Alex has represented numerous businesses and people with business and commercial matters, in addition to his extensive experience managing, directing and litigating lawsuits involving catastrophic personal injuries and wrongful death. He has litigated contractual issues, uniform commercial code issues, business torts, gaming compact issues, lease agreements, helped his clients recover accounts receivables, and helped form corporate entities.

 

Alex is licensed to practice law in the state courts of New Mexico and the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of New Mexico, New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. He has a certification in Taking & Defending Depositions from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
